: : : can any one tell me where I can get a new set of flaps for my Albacore. I just purchased this boat and I found a number on the bottom beneath the transom #507. If any one could help I would be greatfull. I sail on Lake Ontario on the Canadian side in Prince Edward County. Thanks Paul R

: : Most make their own from plexi-glass. Several different hinging systems have been used. Can you describe what you have?

: Peter, I've just purchased an Albacore. The transom flaps have been removed and the holes patched. I'm going to leave the boat afloat for several weeks. Would you replace the flaps in that case or leave them sealed? The flaps I've seen look rather leaky.

When floating on her lines, the transom of an Albacore is out of the water. Thus there is no problem with having transom flaps in a boat that is kept afloat. The occasional wave that might strike the transom and force water in the flaps is much less of a problem than rain water.
